Office: Board of Education

Objectives:

The desire to provide and the ability to deliver. A well-run Board of Education is a balancing act. We must ensure that Newtown’s children have the opportunity to get the education they deserve, and we need to manage this so the tax burden is not prohibitive. As an experienced manager of a publicly-traded company, I gravitate to analytical thinking, coupled with creativity. I am also a product of CT public schools (pre-school through high school, in Brookfield) and believe in them. I want to draw on these experiences, help solve what has been a dilemma for Newtown, and contribute to its future success.

Qualifications:
  • Manager- T3 Energy Services 8 years, headquartered in Houston, TX
  • Extensive financial forecasting and budget analysis experience
  • Business (401K Committee) and personal portfolio management
  • Employee and business contract negotiating skills
  • B.S. in Industrial Technology
  • Newtown resident for two years. Kimberly Sharpe (long-time Newtown resident and volunteer) is my partner, plus 2 cats, 2 Beta fish and a neighbor’s dog that frequently calls our house, "home"
  • Eight nieces and nephews, mostly school age
  • Interested in physical fitness, construction, civic issues, business/ political books
  • Abiding belief in education as an essential foundation for life
