| Objectives: | For the past four years, I have had the honor of sitting on the Newtown Board of Police Commissioners. I take great pride in the strides the Commission has made toward making the Newtown Department of Police Services (NDPS), one of the best departments in the State of Connecticut, while making our town a safer place to live and work. Over the past four years, the Commission has added a police canine officer, a commercial truck officer, put into service a speed trailer, implemented a dedicated traffic enforcement unit, and a motorcycle unit to enhance traffic enforcement initiatives. We have also implemented a child sexual predator program and updated the communications system. Perhaps one of the most significant accomplishments, during this time period was the statewide accreditation of the Newtown Police department, one of the first police departments to receive statewide accreditation. My objective is to build on the experience that I have gained over the past four years and tackle the variety of challenges that the town will face in the coming years. With my prior police experience, and over 25 years of leadership experience in a corporate environment, I feel that I am uniquely prepared to provide valuable insight and advice to the leadership of the NDPS, in matters ranging from traffic control to strategic planning. |
