Republican Candidate for First Selectman - William Rodgers

First Selectman

Objectives: I'm Will Rodgers, and my running mate Jeff Capeci, are excited to announce the launch of our campaign to be your next First Selectman and Selectman.
Jeff and I both have the experience, qualifications and vision for guiding Newtown through the next two years; a period that is different from any other in that we are facing the real prospect of continued cuts in State Aid— cuts that are unprecedented in amount.  To offset that loss of revenue, we'll have to execute better than ever, including the regionalization and/or privatization of services, expanded commercial economic development that preserves our New England charm, all while finding new and creative ways of funding town government that do not burden the residents.
Jeff and I are well qualified to handle these challenges.  We're both long-time residents with histories of volunteer service to Newtown. As former Chairs of the Legislative Council, we are experienced in Newtown's budgeting process.  We can each be described as consensus builders and as such will coordinate all parts of local and state government to work together for creative solutions to the issues we face.  We're also very fair and committed to following processes because that's the best way to maximize public participation.  We promise to be very transparent and communicative.
Newtown has other challenges, of course, like moving forward with the Community Center and the continued redevelopment of Fairfield Hills that we also have ideas about. Jeff and I will keep Newtown a great place to prosper for all of its residents.
