Office:Legislative Council - District 3

I moved to Newtown with my wife Stephanie, daughter Mina and two sons James and Alex specifically for its sense of community, good school system and stable tax rate. My wife and I have been living and restoring Ambefiled Farm (former owned by the  beloved Dr. Brian Silverlieb) for the past four years and its time that I give back to the Town that I have grown to love.  I am a Partner at the Law Office of Owens, Schine & Nicola, P.C. and have been chief legal counsel for the Town of Trumbull  for the past 8 years.  I have been providing guidance to Towns with many similar obstacles which will be facing Newtown in the years to come.  We have immense obstacles ahead to keep and grow the integrity of our infrastructure, school system and overall sense of community. We need knowledgeable, respectful and hard working leaders to assure that Newtown keeps moving in a positive direction.  I want to focus on (1) growing our commercial tax base to stabilize taxes for the individual resident, we must compete with neighboring Towns to attract new businesses and assure the prosperity of our current businesses, (2) preserve and protect our farm land and open space, this is an asset unique to Newtown which must be protected and (3) maintain and grow our competitive school system to attract new residents.  Throwing money at every problem is NOT the solution.  You must target the areas which best serve our community and make the hard decisions to assure fiscally sound spending.  Stable tax rates, good schools and healthy commercial growth is the formula to  make our community attractive to new residents and affordable for our seniors.
