Robert Merola

Legislative Council, District 1

Critical thinking, good listening and common sense are attributes that generate positive results. Thinking critically and fairly leads to good decision-making. Being a good listener and seeking the facts leads to a better understanding of the issues. Common sense along with being informed and understanding the issues can foster common ground.

As a member of the Legislative Council, I plan to utilize these characteristics to find common ground that will minimize the tax burden, enhance education and provide a safe and respectful community environment for Newtown residents from our eldest to our youngest.

I also support better communication amongst and between boards and commissions throughout Newtown. This open dialog will result in the best outcomes for our community.

During these tough economic times, I will endeavor to use common sense with your dollars and cents to make solid and responsible financial recommendations as budget time approaches.
