Ben Ruben
Legislative Council District 3
Legislative Council District 3
My name is Ben Ruben, and I'm thrilled to be running for re-election to represent Newtown’s 3rd District of the Legislative Council. As a proud Connecticut native and a Newtown resident since 2021, I live in town with my wonderful wife, Nina, our two children Benny Jr. and Maeve, and our playful French Bulldog, Chancho.
The last 2 years have been a privilege for me representing the residents of District 3 on the Legislative Council. I have worked tirelessly to protect my motto “Keeping Newtown Affordable for ALL.” For those who built it, those raising families, and those yet to come! My voting record on tough issues has always had the best intentions for my neighbors while serving you the last 2 years. It would be an honor to go back to the Legislative Council for a 2nd term to fight for YOU!
Let’s talk about what I have done for YOU in the last 2 years.
Vice-Chair of the Education Committee and member of the Ordinance Committee. As well as the Chair of the Candidates Committee for the Newtown Republican Town Committee.
I voted NO on two years of record tax increase that Legislative Council Democrats pushed through, which we are all feeling the effects of.
We had tough conversations during budget time to make sure we keep our schools great and are striving for academic excellence. It is all about the kids. I moved to Newtown for education and Benny Jr. will be starting Kindergarten this year through Newtown Public Schools.
I voted and supported a thriving plan for Fairfield Hills to ensure long term stability. Under my term we have received a historical designation for Fairfield Hills and now have a real plan for the campus. No more looking at buildings that are falling apart.
Most importantly, through my efforts, I voted YES to keep more money in your pocket and with YOUR family.
As a self-employed Independent Manufacturer’s Representative for 15 years, I bring a wealth of experience in relationship building and high-level negotiations. My meticulous approach and innovative spirit drive my success in business, and I bring that to the Legislative Council every meeting.
Beyond my professional life, I have cherished rugby for over 15 years, starting at Southern Connecticut State University and advancing to Division 1 Men's Rugby in Philadelphia. Rugby has instilled in me a passion for teamwork and community. I have hung up the rugby cleats, and you will find me at Fairfield Hills playing Pickleball.
I ask for your support again on November 4th in my candidacy for re-election to the Legislative Council representing District 3.
