Meet John Zachos – Your Voice on Newtown’s Legislative Council

John Zachos has called Newtown home for 30 years. He and his wife, Ann, raised their two children, Alex (Chuck) and Abbey, here—both graduates of Newtown High School and proud products of our community.

Elected in 2023, John is now completing his first term representing District 3 on the Legislative Council. He brings over 35 years of experience in Supply Chain Operations, where his job has always been simple in principle—deliver the highest quality at the lowest cost. In practice, that means negotiating contracts, cutting waste, and making sure every dollar works harder.

John believes Newtown is one of the best places to live, raise a family, and retire. But he also knows the cost of living in Connecticut is high—and rising. He’s committed to making sure your tax dollars are spent wisely, maintaining quality services, strong infrastructure, and public safety without overspending.

He supports smart growth—attracting new businesses to grow the tax base while ensuring the infrastructure is ready to support them. That means more opportunity, less tax burden.

When he’s not working for Newtown, John is on the golf course or in the kitchen—mastering homemade pasta, barbecue, Greek pastries, and what many call “the best chili around.”
