With nearly two decades of distinguished legal practice and executive leadership, Shannon brings an exceptional record of public service and strategic oversight to the Newtown Public Schools as an elected Member of the Board of Education. In her capacity as Chair of the CFF/CIP/Facilities/Finance Sub-Committee, Shannon is committed to advancing educational excellence, upholding fiscal integrity, and cultivating innovative initiatives district-wide.

Shannon’s comprehensive legal background and unwavering dedication to community engagement serve as a foundation for her effective governance in education. Motivated by a desire to enhance her children’s academic experience, she accepted an interim appointment to the Board, subsequently secured election in 2023, and is seeking re-election as an incumbent in 2025—demonstrating sustained commitment to the needs of students and families.

A proud Republican, Shannon exemplifies the core principles of public education: accountability, transparency, parental involvement, and local autonomy. She is dedicated to fostering academic achievement and ensuring that educational policies reflect the collective voice of the community, while maintaining stringent fiscal responsibility. A resident of Newtown alongside her partner, John, Shannon is raising two children who attend Newtown’s public schools. Her active volunteerism underscores a deep investment in the success and well-being of the school community.

Professionally, Shannon serves as Senior Counsel for the North America Region at a Fortune 500 enterprise. Her diverse legal portfolio includes leading U.S. legal teams during the expansion of a European technology corporation, serving as Associate General Counsel for a broker-dealer, and holding the position of General Counsel for a construction firm. Her international experience, encompassing service in Boston, MA and Beijing, China, enhances her expertise in governance, compliance, and cross-cultural collaboration.

Shannon is a magna cum laude graduate of American University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and holds a Juris Doctor from Northeastern University. She is admitted to practice law in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
